Implementing Weekday Planning: how it works
Turn on the setting, create new project template revisions and create new projects. These projects will be planned on weekdays only.
The SyncForce Project Manager has been upgraded to provide more flexibility in managing Go-to-Market projects. You can now set project templates to use weekday-based planning. This means tasks are scheduled based on working days rather than calendar days.
- When the planning is using 'All calendar days': A 6-day task starting on Tuesday would end on Saturday.
- When the planning is using 'Weekdays only': With weekday planning enabled, the same task will end on the following Monday, skipping weekends.
Implementing the Weekday only Planning
To utilize the new weekday planning feature, adjustments need to be made in your project templates.- First ask your SyncForce Implementation Partner to activate the ‘Weekdays only’ setting for you.
- The weekday setting will be applied to a project template whenever you create a new project template revision.
- Adapt the task & stage durations in the project template revision be adapted to the week day planning.
- Activate the project template revision.
- Create a new project based on the newly activated template revision. See that the project is planned on weekdays only.
Since the weekday setting is per project template revision, this implies that there can be project templates for which no new revision has been created and thus the new projects created for these project templates are still using all days (including weekends). Only the new projects created for project templates for which a new project template revision has been created and activated will be based on weekdays only.
How It Works:
- Latest Template Revision Used: When setting up a new project, SyncForce will use the latest activated template revision.
- Impact Scope: This new setting applies only to projects created after the template revision has been activated. It does not retroactively affect completed, ongoing, or planned projects.
